A Good Gift To Get A Teacher?

I’m no stranger to Google, but whenever I search “teacher gifts” or anything similar, it comes up with websites selling gifts that students can buy their teacher. I am not a student.

My friend is a teacher and I’m going to her birthday party soon. I’m usually pretty good at personalizing gifts, but I guess I really don’t know much more about her than what she does for a living (despite knowing her for like twelve years… go figure).

Any good suggestions? What would you get your friend if they taught little kids for a living? And teachers, what would YOU want for your birthday?

Please don’t buy her anything ‘teachery’ I’m sure she has plenty of things with apples, letters, numbers, etc on them. You could get her a nice shoulder bag (nothing that looks like a gift for a teacher) and personalize it with her name (I prefer my first name) rather than “Mrs. Jones.” Gift cards are also great, but don’t limit her to books, you could get her a prepaid VISA she could use it anywhere.
A certificate for a massage or day at the spa would be GREAT if you could afford.
